Bulgaria's construction output extends downtrend in September
Bulgaria's construction output dropped by 11.6 per cent year-on-year in September 2011, preliminary data by the National Statistics Institute (NSI) showed on November 7 2011. The sector recorded a 0.7 per cent decline compared to August.
The data is seasonally adjusted, meaning that the effect of seasonal variations is eliminated. The significant decline was attributed to the lower output of civil and engineering construction, which fell by an annual 15.7 per cent. Building construction registered a smaller drop of seven per cent in the period.
In monthly terms, infrastructure projects recorded a decline of 0.5 per cent in September, while building construction went down by 0.8 per cent.
