Architectural design services for log buildings - production of detailed drawings; supply of log kits made in Honka's production plants in Finland and installation on site; finishing works.
Wood is the best building material nature has to offer. It creates an unmatched atmosphere and a feeling of total harmony with nature.
HONKA log buildings are constructed of wood from the highly resistant Nordic pine forests. The extreme growth conditions in Finland cause the pine to grow slowly and to have reduced moisture content. The logs are made from trees with close annual rings and particularly high density, resulting in logs well suited to bearing heavy loads. The logs are kiln-dried using only the most advanced technology.
The following types of logs for walls are available in HONKA selection:
Round logs – solid, round logs of slowly-grown Nordic pine, kiln-dried and planed to the required dimension. Dimensions: 130, 150, 170, 190, 210, 230 mm.
Vertically-glued laminated logs – made of two or three pieces of wood which are glued together in such a way that the hard core is on the surface of the log making it resistant to deformation and crack formation. Dimensions: 88, 112, 134, 164 mm.
Massive laminated logs – made of six glued pieces of wood, ideal for several storey buildings. Dimensions: 182, 204 mm.
Laminated logs – made of eight glued pieces of wood, combine the appearance of traditional solid logs and the technical features of massive laminated logs. Dimensions: 230, 260 mm.
90% of all elements for a log house are made in HONKA's five plants in Finland, which ensures that they are produced to the very highest quality standard. This also means that no other suppliers are needed.
HONKA puts full emphasis on quality and precision throughout the whole production process. All stages of it, from design to completion, are closely connected thanks to state-of-the-art CAD technology, which is used to show every home precisely on the screen. Walls, windows and all other structures are tested and optimized in HONKA's own test laboratory, where one of the most advanced test walls is used to simulate driving rain and wind speeds of up to 290 km/h. This enables HONKA to offer its customers durable, top-quality houses.
The standard log home kit made in HONKA's plants in Finland includes:
logs for exterior and interior loadbearing walls; doors and windows with glazing and mouldings; floor joists, floor boards and skirting; stairways and steps; roof rafters, battens, valleys, fascia and soffit; as well as detailed drawings and a construction manual for a standard kit.
