Major Sofia streets and boulevards are planned for repair works from Monday, according to mayor Stefan Sofianski.
These will include parts of Cherni Vruh blvd, Gornobanski pat, Konstantin Velichkov blvd, Yavorov alley, V. Levski blvd, and other streets.
Mayor Sofianski also visited the construction site of the next subway stretch.
The construction of the subway at Interpred trade centre should be completed by the end of 2007. Sofia subway is planned to have 11 stations in total and transport some 35 million passengers annually.
Driving a subway pass in downtown Sofia will start this summer, according to mayor Stefan Sofianski.
He explained Friday that all the work would be carried out underground, and thus would not hamper traffic in the central area.
Three new stations should open in 2007 - those by the Interpred trade center, the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and the Yunak Stadium.
Building the Interpred station alone will cost about BGN 38 M (approximately EUR 19 M).
